Welcome to our blog about our adoption process. Calvin and I thought it would be a great idea to start a blog to keep families and friends, who are interested in following our journey, up to date on all of our details. I know many of you are interested and want to know but are tired of asking. I am learning how this "blog" thing works, so my first few attempts at posting information and updates may not look great. I am sure I will learn as I go...which is how this adoption process has gone for us.
When we decided that we were going to adopt a little girl from China, it is the end of 2005. We started the mountains of paperwork and had all of our paperwork completed and turned in and accepted by the Chinese Government in April of 2006. (See our timeline for more details). At that time, we were told that the time it would take to receive our referral should have been about a year. Little did anyone know, many people were doing the very same thing we were....sending in their paperwork to adopt from China. It is now mid 2009 and we still don't have our referral but we are getting so close. We really do believe that we will receive our referral at the end of this year or the beginning of next year. I like to tell people that we are in this incredibly LONG line, waiting patiently, for our turn. Each month we move closer to the front of the line as the Chinese government matches children in orphanages with their new families.
