Flight to China Beijing Bound!

We had our flight from Seattle to Beijing and made it safe and sound. The flight was 11 hours and 10 minutes. It was a long flight but fairly smooth. We flew first class which made all the difference in the world! Our seats reclined into a bed and lots of positions in between. We were able to get some sleep. We arrived in Beijing around 4:30 pm Tuesday afternoon and met our facilitator Mable. She took us to our hotel and made sure we checked in okay. We are staying at the Beijing Oriental Culture Hotel. We wondered out for dinner with Brian and Stephanie and searched for a restaurant that had recognizable food. We finally settled on one and had fried rice, Kung Pau Chicken and some dish with Pork. It was very good! I don't have many pictures to share because I will have to figure out how to get the pictures of my camera onto the laptop. Here are some pictures from the plane off my iPhone.

Our internal clocks are messed up because of the 12 hour time difference here. Calvin and I were up at around 5 am and for those of you who really know me, you know that is not a normal occurance for us. We went down and ate a buffet breakfast when the restaurant opened. We are going to the Olympic Village area today and explore more of Beijing. Douglas, Erica and Katie will arrive from Hong Kong this evening. We are really excited to see them!

We are in Seattle

We have flown to Dallas and met our friends Stephanie and Brian from Louisiana who are adopting a child from the same orphanage. We then flew from Dallas to Seattle. We are waiting in the club lounge for our flight to Beijing. We will arrive in Beijing about 4:30 pm on Tuesday July 6th. Hopefully we can get some sleep on the plane.

Packed and ready to go!

This post is a test. I am going to see if I can post to the blog using email. We are ready to go to China. Our bags are packed which was quite a trick! We only wanted to take 2 bags but we could not do so we added another small bag.
